Talee is currently in active development. This page is a placeholder draft and has not yet been reviewed by legal counsel. It will be finalized before general availability, including applicable education-data regulations (e.g. FERPA).
1. What We Collect
Talee is used by school districts, schools, and teachers to manage students, staff, attendance, hall passes, schedules, and building/location data. Depending on your role, Talee may process: account and profile information, student and staff records entered by your school, attendance and excusal records, hall pass activity, room/building occupancy data, and notification preferences.
2. Who Controls the Data
Student and staff data belongs to the school district or school that entered it. Talee processes this data on their behalf, under their direction, as their service provider — not as an independent owner of student records.
3. How We Use Data
Data is used solely to provide the Service: displaying rosters and schedules, recording attendance and hall pass activity, powering the Live Map and analytics dashboards, and sending notifications configured by your school. We do not sell student or staff data.
4. Access Controls
Access to data within Talee is restricted by role-based permissions. Teachers, school staff, principals, district staff, and superintendents only see the data relevant to their role and scope (their classes, their school, or their district).
5. Data Retention
Data is retained for as long as your school district or school maintains an active account with Talee, or as otherwise agreed in writing. Archived records (e.g. archived students, teachers, or rooms) are retained to preserve historical reporting accuracy unless deletion is requested by the controlling school district or school.
6. Third-Party Services
Talee relies on a small number of trusted infrastructure providers to operate the Service, such as authentication and error-monitoring providers. These providers process data only as needed to deliver their specific function and are bound by their own data protection obligations.
7. Children's & Student Data
Talee is designed to support schools' compliance obligations around student data (such as FERPA in the U.S.). Student data is entered and controlled by schools, not collected directly from students by Talee.
8. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as the product evolves. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made.
